The #upcyclingwithpaint workshop will be held at the Lush shop (Gran Vía de Don Diego López de Haro, 6, 48001 Bilbao Bizkaia). From 18:30 to 19:30 on 20 November 2023.
The initiative, in addition to providing a new educational outlet for the store, seeks to demonstrate how simple and creative tools can enable anyone to redesign clothing they no longer wear, either because they are bored of it or due to wear. By upcycling with paint wear and tear or even a stain can be repaired, creating a new, unique garment. Techniques that also help you to create and show off your style, which you can use to express your values or interests via your clothing.
With this workshop we aim to help reduce textile waste, as the fast fashion culture leads society towards the rapid and unsustainable consumption of garments that quickly go out of fashion, or which, due to their low cost, awaken a consumerist spirit of buying, using and throwing away (sometimes without using), thereby exploiting natural and human resources for their production and subsequent disposal.
The workshop will be divided into 3 parts:
- Introduction to the concept of upcycling, its objectives and its impact on the planet.
- A demonstration of simple drawing or customisation techniques using paint to create textures or shapes on garments (no artistic or drawing skills necessary), with materials that we can use at home.
- Implementation using the garment that each participant brings to the workshop.
Registration will be open to all, with prior registration available until the maximum group of 10 has been filled and announced both on ARTEK's social networks and in the shop itself.
